Book Marked

Written for the Imaginary Garden with Real Toads, Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Month (Day 5 of 13) – Care to Swirl with Me?, and linked to Poets United (Poetry Pantry, 297).

“Book Marked”

I have words
brewing tales in my blood,
building worlds for all the characters
written on my heart’s skin, shaping them to be born.
They’ve taken marrow and bone and spelled
their essence into dark ink
and canvas.
I’m book marked
and dependent on words.
My muse stays high on self-crafted dreams;
wild dreams, which we must spell and pen into the world
unboxed. I could live on the right words,
sipping poems and tales,
birthing worlds.

Care to Swirl with Me? – Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Month, 2016 (Day 5)

Welcome Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Month, my Wicked Luvs. Today, you pick the topic and I choose the form. Yep, we are going to create Triquain Swirl poems. The arrangement will look like this: 3 – 6 – 9 – 12 – 9 – 6 – 3 – 6 – 9 – 12 – 9 – 6 – 3 (lines in multiples of 3, joining stanzas together on the 7th line, eliminating the space between stanzas. Our poems should have no more than 13 lines. My poem, “Crab Apple Love”, shows an example of what the piece should look like.

Today’s Prompt – Write a Triquain Swirl about the Cruellest topic of your choosing.

Link Instructions – Leave the direct link to your poem as a comment in the following format: “Dark, Fresh and Blooming” –

Please visit other Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Month participants. It’s polite and cool. 😉
