Idiots Herding the Blind – Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Mont, 2016 (Day 3)

Some weeks ago, I dreamed that I was a hitchhiker in a nation of blind people who lived in an underground steam engine. Life was quite all right in Engine Nation, until the leadership of the place was given to a quartet of senseless clowns. After they took office living in Engine Nation turned into a nightmare. The experience brought to mind one of my favorite Shakespeare quotes. So… on the 3rd day of Dark Poetry for the Cruellest Month, 2016, I wish to explore those words.

Today’s Prompt – Write a poem inspired by the following quote, from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar: “What a terrible era in which idiots govern the blind.”

Link Instructions – Leave the direct link to your poem as a comment in the following format:

  1. I didn’t write one for this prompt, but loved reading others’ poems, so refreshing to read creative takes on all this nonsense instead of the usual hotheaded drivel. Love how everyone managed to state a strong opinion, and also evoke strong emotion at the same time. 🙂
