Creativity and Pain

Day 2 of NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015 is strutting into the cyber room… Are you still breathing, my Wicked Luvs? I’ve been gasping like a maniac, and it has nothing to do with being tired or with Day 2’s wonderful swagger. It’s just yesterday’s responses to “The Birth of Your Art” prompt: they were that good.

Today we’ll move on to Creativity and Pain; specifically, on how we use one in order to live with the other. In my case, when it comes to chronic pain management, storytelling and poetry are my most powerful tools: I use them to celebrate my victories, to rage over setbacks, to write myself into places my left hip can no longer take me, to create and maintain relationships with others, to stay alive… and often kicking.

What about you, my Wicked Luvs? How do you use (or imagine others can use): Creativity to make Pain bearable? Today’s “poem should explore creativity as a healing salve, as a shield, as a weapon, or as a negotiation method to use when dealing with physical and/or psychological pain.”

* Leave a link to your poem, as a comment. Include the title of your entry, and the direct link of your post. Example: “NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015”: Visit other Wicked Darlings. If you do, I’m almost sure they’ll visit you back (it’s politeness with fun in it).

* As a courtesy, please include the link to any prompt you use at the end of your post. If you are feeling extra awesome, also link your poem to the main entry. Show others where to go. Spread the word. Linking back to the source is good. It’s cool.

Goddess Gone Vampire

I chose this image for this prompt, because Shelle said this lady “started as a Goddess of Love… and ended as a vampire”, which reminded her of the makeup she wore in the 80’s. With pain as with creativity, we can always make something with what we have… or at least, we should give it a go.
