He Needs a Gentle Touch

pre-Witches in Fiction Giveaway, 1: Groovy Crow, sponsored by Little Gothic Horrors

The Crow wears lace made of night. He perches on the most flexible branch of Imagination’s tree, watching the world through the crimson of one eye… He hungers not for carrion. Since his wings bloomed, beaded and black, the Crow yearns for… other things. He needs a gentle touch. He wants song and dance and the warmth of a heart, willing to join him… in a murder of two.

Sir Groovy, the crow,
dreams of autumns full of love

  1. I think his camouflage is just perfect….a single red eye to peer through the clumps of berries on the Rowan trees as darkness falls on his prey (makes me grin mightily):D XXX

  2. ‘On a branch sat a lonely crow
A black cat sat in the bushes below
When their eyes met they no longer saw a foe
A healing friendship started to grow’

I simply love Emma’s little crow and I’m looking forward to the 21st!
Totally sharing and tagging on FB.

  3. Halloween is here
    Distracted by candy corn
    The crow leaves your eyes.

    Not yet forgotten
The joy of pecking soft flesh
    Groovy often dreams.

    Of a world without
    Sunglasses and goggles too
    The season passes.

    Autumn days are full
Of bright wide eyes ready to
    Be pecked and eaten.

  4. Bedecked in beads and lace, dressed in Victorian style, she waits for sonnets from the season of her love! She is magnificent! I love the line “dreams of Autumns full of love!

  5. Sir Groovy is a kindred soul. ❤️
Darkness and light, somber with a hint of bling.
Dressed in black with an imperative flash of red! Perfection. ❤️

And I love his poem ….
His autumn dreams match my own.
Although I’d rather have “peeking” eyes … 😉

    Love!!! ❤️❤️❤️

  6. Well it’s 33 words. But that’s my favourite number. 😉

“Good evening Sir Groovy. Or may I call you Edgar?
You are always Edgar in my dreams,
where the healing magic of the night
allows my inner crow to peck away my pain.”

  7. The only thing better than your haibun Ms Wicked is sweet and talented Emma’s red eyed Sir Groovy, I am sure she has beaded magic into his handsome coat, and in my fave colours, black, and more black 😁 If I caw will he fly north to me 😜 This is the perfect 1st post to make the world less rotten, Emma’s utterly beautiful creation, and your words that launch this blog celebration, wherever Sir Groovy lands will add smiles, and they are the spells the world is in need of 👍👍😘

  8. Dark and sweet, just the combo I love. OK, let me come up with something:

When Crow found a heart in need of healing, he’d pluck the hurt spots, transforming them into baubles to adorn himself. People smiled at his cawing, knowing peace would come soon.

I’m going to go share this now 🙂

  9. Sir Groovy is the most dashing crow I have ever seen! I love all his fancy bits, from lace to fiery button eyes. He’s enchanting, and he calls to my witchy soul!

    • I forgot to mention your beautiful Haibun; how thoughtless of me. As always, your words also speak to my soul. You make me yearn for the dark soft touch of Autumn…and perhaps the silky caress of dark feathery magick!

  10. I love Emma’s crow and I love your words.
Emma’s crows are very special to me, because I have one. I think my little one wants a brother 🙂 So please enter me into the giveaway 🙂
“Sir Groovy Crow’s” pecks, are actually kisses of love, on those soft eyes.

  11. What a luscious beginning! I love the lace and the red button eye, and your words as ever, make my heart sing!

    Gazing into his fiery eyes,
    I silently seek a token
    of his dark, healing wisdom.
    With a penetrating gaze,
he drops a feather at my feet,
    then soars into the sky.
    31! Score!

    • Aw nuts – I failed to actually use the word crow.

      One more time!

      Gazing into Crow’s fiery eyes,
      I silently seek a token
      of his dark, healing wisdom.
      With a penetrating gaze,
he drops a feather at my feet,
      then soars into the sky.

  12. The healing grace of the lacey wonder crow,
flowed forth from his wings as he flew towards night and comfort.

What a lovely way to start the festivities. I’m tickled black. xoxo Oma Linda

  13. Sir Groovy is rather charming dressed in lace, watching the world through a crimson eye, and moreover he dreams of autumn full of love. What a delightful write! As I said before I’ve never seen a crow look this good.😊

  14. I like the image of wings blooming and also dreaming of soft eyes to peck. There’s always at least one really effective image in your stuff. That’s a tough standard to live up to, having to come up with one great, memorable image every post. I’m happy with one a month.

  15. Like others who wish to enter the giveaway, I went on to finding out what is Haibun exactly. I got to know from your previous posts that it is related to haiku, but wanted to know more.

Crows live in abundance in cold and hot countries,
They are unique, and they are the same anywhere – true to themselves.

Lovely giveaway! I loved the lacy-like decor of the crow’s wing!

  16. Healing Crow came down from the knitted cloud trees to peck the Earth into being.
“Oh!” cried Earth’s Meteor Crater, opening wide.
“Bring forth creatures of light and dark!” Crow commanded.

    31 words.
Your wish, dear Magaly, is my command.

  17. ‘Soft eyes to peck’….this drew me in…so dark and yet delicious!

Mr Groovy calls to my Witchy soul, pecking softly at my dreams as night falls and the moon casts her magic…….. Off to share some crow love!
