I Don’t Do New Year’s Resolutions: Week 4 of Doing It Alone Is Quite Yummy, But…

I’ll use any excuse to make an incompletable list (or 13). So, when I saw this quote (see below) by the deliciously wild Oscar Wilde, I knew week 4 of Doing It Alone Is Quite Yummy, But… had to sprout out of Wilde wit.

So, my Wicked Luvs, for our first week of doing this blogging thing with each other in 2019, I invite you to include 1 or 3 (even 13) of the New Year’s Resolutions you have made year after year after year… but have never truly completed.

Participation is as easy as reading with brain and heart and writing the feels. This weekly blog event is meant for everyone. You are welcome to take the offered prompt (see above) and use it as a foundation to write about your week (in the creative method of your choosing).

Or, if my offered topic doesn’t work for you, go ahead and tell me about something that matters to you and how it feeds your mind and spirit.

This post will remain opened for entries (1 entry per participant) for a week. Add the direct link to your contribution in the comments (I monitor links *to avoid spam*, but worry not… I don’t take long to approve them).

    • I think that if I even try to think of a fitness goal, at this time in treatment, my doctors will murder me. The roller coaster struggle is real! We shall stick with doing things we can do while when we can… without getting silly.

  1. Oh, this is easy, but I don’t want to say, because I have made myself a 90 day challenge, in which I told a friend, that if I didn’t at least try, I would give her $500.00! I have tried so many times before, but fell back into my old story. I don’t want to be in my old story anymore. This is where the inspiration for my new ink drawings came from. I know there will be headaches and discomfort, but like I said, I have to try!
    Big Hugs 🙂

    • 90 days isn’t long. I can’t wait. And I bet you won’t have to pay those $500. I hope your friend is ready to do something nice for you once is done. Discomfort (for a while) is okay, as long as you take care of you.

  2. Hi Maga! My post doesn’t quite fit with your theme even though it’s about New Year’s Resolutions. I had initially scheduled it for next week.

Anyway, after failing to achieve my set resolutions year after year and end up being disappointed with myself, I found a better way that keeps me on course. I simply and mindfully choose a meaningful word that will center me for the year. So, here are my not-so-resolute resolutions for the year that will hopefully continue to enrich my creative pursuits:-)

    • I’ve always thought that adding pressure (we don’t really need) to our lives is not the best of strategies. When it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, a focusing word or a list of things that need to be done (eventually), feels a lot better to me.

Can’t wait to see what you wrote on decluttering. If you are going to attack your closer, we might be swimming similar waters.

  3. I don’t even pretend that I’ll quit smoking this year but, *grins* I resolve to stay quit from meth…should be ezpz since Jan 6 is 13 years…

  4. See I can’t add to this prompt as I have only ever made 1 (the same) resolution each year…it’s one I share with hubby…to love each other even more this year than last year, and we’re still together so it must be working 😀 I have added “focus n the happy” this year though, so we’ll see how that pans out 😉 XXX

    • Ooooh! I do love the idea of sharing a resolution with one’s other half and then spending a lifetime practicing and practicing and practicing… until it gets better and better. And, of course, the happy focus is a must. I wouldn’t know what to do without that one.

  5. The only resolution I made with myself is to go on social media a lot less and to read my books a lot more. I continue to buy books and I have dozens and dozens already waiting for me to read. I did the same resolution last year and slipped back into my bad habits.
I have already read a book last week and scaled down on my posts on social media ( this week at least 😉 )
