Pain and Sleep

Every now and then, you might not be able to sleep because a cold is making you cough and cough until your lungs feel like they’re on fire and about to burst through your chest and throat. When the cold symptoms stay around a while, the cough from hell is often joined by headaches, nasty muscle aches, and before long, difficulties falling and staying asleep will make themselves known.

Imagine the ache, I just spoke of, twisting its fatigue around your muscles and squeezing your bones all the time… at different levels of intensity… while you are trying to fall asleep… Keeping this horrid bit in mind, for NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015, Day 23, I’m inviting you to picture what living this way might be like, then Write a poem that explores the intricate relationship between pain and sleep. (If you don’t have to imagine it, then shake your fist in the face of the beast *kick it in the teeth thrice if you can* and write on, my Luvs).

* Leave a link to your poem, as a comment. Include the title of your entry, and the direct link to your post. Example: “NaPoWriMo with Magaly Guerrero 2015”: Visit other Wicked Darlings and comment on their yum. They might visit you (it’s polite).

* If you use this prompt, please link it to your post. And if you are feeling extra delicious, link your poem to the main entry. Show others where to go. Spread the word. Linking back to the source might help you sleep better at night… Well, at least I hope. 😉
